Saturday 27 April - Wharfedale v Lymm (H) KO 3.00pm ---- Foresters v Sandal 2nd XV at West Leeds RUFC KO 3.00pm ......

This local derby match was an end to end game from start to finish, both sides having plenty of men, so rolling subs kept the game playing at pace.  Wharfedale were first on the score sheet with a try from Dan Arkwright after 10 minutes.  This was closely followed by a try from Scott Rogers.  Ribb then woke up, tightened up their game and scored a converted try.  Sam Mason was next on the scoresheet for Wharfedale, his try being converted by Jonathan Davies.  This made the half time score 7-17.

The second half saw Ribb regroup with the result …

Another thriller at the Avenue was edged by the visitors with two tries late in the game. Both teams tried to play attractive rugby when the elements allowed.

Dale were pinned back in their own 22 by giving away early penalties and Stourbridge opened the scoring with a penalty kick from Fred Morgan.

Dale countered almost immediately when Rhys Green charged down a clearance kick two phases after the restart. The ball was scooped up by Simon Borrill, who took the ball forward and fed Tom Davidson. Oscar Canny then joined the attack and a well-timed and placed pass gave …

Wharfedale travelled south on a grey day but the gloom was lifted by returning home with a bonus point win. Dale did enough to win the match but a spirited fight back from the home side saw them claim two bonus points and the respect of the home crowd.

Wharfedale opened the scoring with a scrum penalty on half way which was converted by Tom Davidson. The visitors added to their tally when a knock on by a Luctonian was pounced on by Rian Hamilton on half way. Hamilton broke clear down the right-hand touch line and easily beat any …

The last time men in green marauded opposition to the extent this side has in the past few weeks, Little John and Friar Tuck were in their pomp ( 2nd row and prop ) !  The Foresters were yet again dominant in all areas and provided terrific entertainment for all who enjoy fast , open adventurous rugby.

Perfect they are not but they are improving so rapidly that there is this sensation of what will happen next and they certainly hold spectators attention for the full eighty minutes. Please do not think that Driffield are a poor side, just …

In the true spirit of the game Wharfedale helped the Pythons make up their numbers to 15.  Fortunately, having the largest turn-out of the season made this possible, so a big thank you to all who turned up.

Initially, the first half saw Wharfedale dominant with three very quickly scored tries by Wake, Booth and Hayton.  The Pythons didn’t capitulate and indeed scored twice.  The Greens were playing a hard but expansive game and further scores came from Booth (2), Gill and Bullock. Skipper Jonathan Davies added two conversions, so the score at the break was 39-14.

After rearranging the …

Following on from a blank weekend and with some late changes to the squad, the Foresters had a different look on Saturday when they travelled across to Leeds to play Moortown 2’s.

The first 25 minutes were played at a good tempo and, before you could blink, the Foresters were 4 tries ahead.  Winger Kaup-Samuels was the beneficiary of some good hands and phases to cross twice, scrum half Max Bell finished off a sweeping blindside move by winger Fred Hewetson to claim the next try and prop forward Jimmy Meehan crashed over after a 5 yard tap penalty, following …
