In the true spirit of the game Wharfedale helped the Pythons make up their numbers to 15. Fortunately, having the largest turn-out of the season made this possible, so a big thank you to all who turned up.
Initially, the first half saw Wharfedale dominant with three very quickly scored tries by Wake, Booth and Hayton. The Pythons didn’t capitulate and indeed scored twice. The Greens were playing a hard but expansive game and further scores came from Booth (2), Gill and Bullock. Skipper Jonathan Davies added two conversions, so the score at the break was 39-14.
After rearranging the loan players the Dalesmen carried the game forward, but sadly a spate of injuries saw both sides down to 14 men. Our second half scores came from Moorhouse, Gill and Wake, resulting in a final score of 60-21. The Pythons never dropped their heads, playing wholeheartedly to the final whistle. Thanks to all our players who took the field for whichever side. It should be mentioned that Moorhouse scored for both sides! That this match took place is a great tribute to both Clubs.
Davies J. 5 conversions, Rhodes, Bowers, Kitching, Hayton 1 Try, Davies M, Clay, Donizetti, Rymer B, Ellison, Fitzell, Lawn C, Stephenson, Bullock 1 Try, Gill 2 Tries, Rodgers (Man of the Match), Moorhouse ( tries for both sides) , Brown, Wake 2 Tries, Smith, Booth 3 Tries, Rymer T.
Message from John Spencer
“Many thanks to all those who played yesterday to enable three teams to enjoy a greenwash and particularly those who played for the opposition and allowed six teams to have a game. Some things we do well!”
