Always good to see ‘The Former Players’ gathering for their annual reunion and lunch, at a home match – this year it was to see a win over Hull Ionians.
On hand were Jim and Adam Mason (both former Wharfedale first team players) as was their father Matt. The boys took a short break from lunch to help Jennie with the 200 Club draw. – see below for the list of lucky winners.
Actually doing the honours, with his hand in the yellow bag, was Adam’s young son who is potentially the fourth generation of the family to pull on a green jersey. A browse around the old photographs pinned to the Clubhouse walls shows the family connection going back to the earliest days of The Upper Wharfedale Rugby Club, when Kit and Oswald were amongst the Club’s founder playing members, back in 1923. Thank you to all our former players and their families and we look forward to welcoming their mini and juniors who may attend the reunion luncheon in year’s to come.
