We grasp at thin air to find words that capture the character of Michael Harrison. Doubtless we will all try and find those elusive expressions to show our admiration for a truly remarkable man whose life sadly ended earlier this week at the age of 77. Whilst we try and turn our attention to other things our minds return to a state of deep sadness, such was the impact of Michael’s character on all of us. The tragic passing is something that our minds can barely comprehend. The wider rugby world is also in grief.

As a result of increasing production costs and a reducing take up of paper programmes, the Club has decided to move to a digital programme in line with a number of other clubs. The benefits of this will include a cost saving, improved environmental footprint, more accurate team information, flexibility in the amount of editorial content and access to the programme even if you can’t get to the fixture! Team information will also be posted at the entry gate, around the ground and in the clubhouse on first team matchdays.

Successful rugby clubs are more than just what happens on the pitch. Players and coaches are vitally important but so are the many dedicated volunteers who work hard behind the scenes to help our club function.

As with all sports club, we rely heavily on volunteers – people who give their time in all sorts of ways to enable the club to continue its activities and fulfil its objectives. There are many ways in which players, supporters and parents can all help in driving the club forward.

The Centenary celebrations at the Gala Dinner in the spacious marquee on the 2nd team pitch were an unmitigated success.  The weather was perfect, the music, catering and the camaraderie of all age groups was up to the highest possible standards as expected.  The evening started with free drinks, followed by the usual excellent and apt welcoming speech by our President, John Spencer, incapacitated physically but certainly not mentally!
