Thank you to everyone who supported Shirt Sponsorship in the match day programme.
This season will be the first year we distribute a digital programme and as such have decided to sponsor players instead of shirt numbers.
The players have been challenged to find their own sponsors but having a playing squad of around 40 there will be plenty of opportunities to sponsor one if you wish to continue to support the club.
We are seeking to raise £150 +VAT for each sponsorship and will highlight the sponsor name/logo under the players name and photo on the website under players …

The Centenary celebrations at the Gala Dinner in the spacious marquee on the 2nd team pitch were an unmitigated success.  The weather was perfect, the music, catering and the camaraderie of all age groups was up to the highest possible standards as expected.  The evening started with free drinks, followed by the usual excellent and apt welcoming speech by our President, John Spencer, incapacitated physically but certainly not mentally! He paid apt tributes not only to our founders but to those who kept up the momentum to take us from being a local Dales Club to one known and respected …

This is an important year in the history of Wharfedale Rugby Union Football Club, formerly Upper Wharfedale RUFC, as their first fixture was played in the autumn of 1923.  No precise date is known.  On June 16th a Centenary Dinner is taking place for approximately 400 and this will be followed by a Mini and Junior Celebration weekend over two days on September 30th and October 1st.  The aim is to have an attendance of over 1000 at the home match.  On December 26th the traditional friendly match versus North Ribblesdale will feature support for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance and

THE INDEFATIGABLE FORESTERS!

After what must have been one of the most disjointed seasons any team could possibly be faced with, the Foresters arrived at

Malton and Norton for the final of the League Cup and the very last game of the season. No side ever deserved it more and fitting that they should have reached this final to show they have not been put off course, by what must have been one of the strangest seasons on record. Along with many others I admire their fortitude , attitude and acceptance of matters beyond their control and whilst this praise …

This was not an attacking festival of rugby that a big crowd had hoped for. It did not match the superb spectacle of Dale’s 57 – 18 win way back at the start of the season at the Avenue. Head coach, Simon Vebickas, said after the game in September “Preston are no mugs and they will get better as the season progresses”.

Dale took to the field with 9 changes to the starting line-up from September but full of the youngsters who had played so brilliantly in the past few weeks. Sadly, this was not to be their finest hour. …

Refreshing  once again to be reporting on a match for this excellent squad, who have had such an exasperating season which could have driven many to despair . Not the Foresters, they are made of sterner stuff than that. Don`t hold your breath but after watching the 1st XV`s sparkling display against Chester and the introduction of the  Greens next  generation, the Club could be entering a very exciting era. Introducing several very promising younger players has provided that vital injection of pace and athleticism which is obviously proving successful with results obtained. Fingers crossed !!
