WHARFEDALE RUFC CENTENARY 1923-2023

This is an important year in the history of Wharfedale Rugby Union Football Club, formerly Upper Wharfedale RUFC, as their first fixture was played in the autumn of 1923.  No precise date is known.  On June 16th a Centenary Dinner is taking place for approximately 400 and this will be followed by a Mini and Junior Celebration weekend over two days on September 30th and October 1st.  The aim is to have an attendance of over 1000 at the home match.  On December 26th the traditional friendly match versus North Ribblesdale will feature support for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance and the Upper Wharfedale Fell Rescue, two local charities very close to the club’s heart.  To culminate all this it is hoped that the end of season Players’ Dinner will see a host of current players, ex players and coaches and other guests coming together to celebrate rugby over 100 years at Wharfedale.  The aim is also to have a Sports Lunch or Dinner, the date and venue to be confirmed, with guest speakers and auctions etc.

Not to miss out our Minis and Juniors are having a Celebration Weekend.
