The Wharfedale U14s enjoyed a fantastic and memorable tour to Outdoor Alternative at Silver Bay, Anglesey, North Wales—three days filled with rugby, teamwork, adventure, and plenty of laughs.
Day One – Team Building & Beach Rugby
The boys kicked things off with coastal raft building along the Anglesey shoreline. Working in teams, they embraced the challenge with enthusiasm—strengthening communication, leadership, and trust in one another. The rafts may not have all floated… but the teamwork certainly did!
In the afternoon the group travelled to Colwyn Bay to watch RGC 1404 vs Carmarthen Quins, giving the boys a chance to experience high‑level rugby and soak up the match-day atmosphere.
With the weather still on our side, we headed to the beach for a lively game of Lads vs Dads beach rugby. Despite the boys’ confidence—and some questionable refereeing decisions—the dads stormed to a comfortable (and loudly celebrated) victory.
Day Two – Match Day at Llandudno RFC
Sunday brought an early start and a shift in weather as we arrived at Llandudno Rugby Club in challenging, swirling conditions—wind, rain, and everything in between.
Kicking off with the wind at their backs, Wharfedale started strongly and immediately put Llandudno under pressure. The boys dominated territory throughout the entire first half and went into the break 3 tries to nil.
In the second half, despite losing the wind advantage, the team maintained their intensity and added another well‑worked try. Battling through driving rain and tough opposition, Wharfedale showed real grit and determination to finish the game with a well‑earned 34–17 victory.
A Tour to Remember
Every player contributed both on and off the field, strengthening friendships, building confidence, and boosting team morale. The tour provided unforgettable memories and reinforced the brilliant spirit within this age group.
