U16s Tour to North Wales

After months of fundraising, our U16’s headed to North Wales on Friday for their rugby tour.

Saturday they faced Caernarfon where we caught up with the legendary ex Wharfedale player, Chris Malherbe and son Jona, who now plays for the club. The team had a great game and came away with a 14-29 win.

Both teams at Caernarfon

Following a presentation in the clubhouse the lads stayed to watch the Six Nations games (Wales v Italy and England v France) then headed into town for a curry and finally back to their digs for the evening.

Sunday’s game was on Anglesey v Llangefni, where another ex Wharfedale player, our very own Jonathan Davies, was proudly displayed on the clubhouse wall of fame.

Another win for the team with a score of 17-44. A quick presentation in their clubhouse (and a rendition of Happy Birthday to Hodge) then they headed back to Yorkshire.

Thank you to all the coaching and support staff, the parents, John Sumner (for their smart tour jumpers) but most of all the players. All 24 of them did the club proud. Well done on another successful tour! Long may they continue.

Our congratulations to all involved.
