The traditional Boxing Day fixture saw us welcome two playing teams of our friends from North Ribb and also two teams from the Yorkshire Air Ambulance and the Upper Wharfedale Fell Rescue Squad.
Jennie was able to distract Janet Baines (YAA) and John Helm (UWFRA) to help, for a couple of minutes, with our own 200 Club draw. (see winners below).
Janet is a registered volunteer for YAA and John is Assistant Underground Leader for UWFRA – sounds perilous to me!
Many of you will remember John’s late brother, Philip who was a fervent supporter of ‘The Greens’ for many years. Very much a Threshfield family and great to see them represented at The Avenue.
Thanks to the very healthy attendance on the day, the two rescue organisations collected just short of £4,500 with their own fundraising efforts – well done to everyone involved and thank you.
The North Ribb lads may had gone back up the road empty handed in terms of results on the field but they provided stern opposition and good entertainment for the appreciative holiday crowd.
See you next year boys and good luck for the rest of your season.
