The National Clubs Association have taken the sad, but to most people inevitable, decision to cancel the proposed national NCA Cup which it had planned to launch for the second half of the season.
The NCA Cup was an innovative response to the curtailment of league rugby which offered a combination of pool and knock out matches across both National 1 and 2, but the continuing pandemic restrictions make it impossible for the competition to go ahead.
Wharfedale RUFC nevertheless remains committed to getting as many players as possible back on the pitch as soon as regulations permit. To this end we are in regular communication with other NCA North clubs about the possibility of arranging local friendly fixtures against some of our traditional rivals – with a particular focus on the potential to arrange fixtures for both 1st and 2nd XVs; we are also in regular communication with Yorkshire RFU and local clubs where we may be able to arrange fixtures for 2nd, 3rd and 4th XVs depending on player availability.
Thank you to all our friends and supporters for your support and patience in these difficult times. Vis Ex Montibus Venit – we will be back!
Robert Fort, Chairman, Wharfedale RUFC.
