Match Preview – Rotherham vs Wharfedale

Saturday 4th September 2021 KO 2PM (A)

At long last we are going to start playing league rugby. I like a season to have a beginning, a middle and an end so let’s hope that is what we will get in 2021-22. It has been a frustrating time for the faithful with no Green Machine in action but here we go!

The first two sightings of Wharfedale will be on the road. 1st at Rotherham this Saturday and then away to Sheffield Tigers. The first National Two North league game at the Avenue is against Sedgley Park on 18th September.

Wharfedale have played Rotherham twice at the Avenue in recent years as a pre-season warm up, both games being closely fought and just won by Wharfedale. Rotherham are newcomers to National 2 North rugby and have firm ambitions to climb back to National One and beyond.

The Titans have had two tough pre-season games against Sale and Leeds Tykes, and are keen to start their league programme.

Following on from their pre-season games, Titans head coach, Steve Salvin said “… ultimately we are disappointed with how things went and we know we’ll have to be a lot better against Wharfedale in our first game of the season.”

Kick off is a brisk 2pm and the address for Sat Navs is Clifton Lane, Rotherham, S60 2SN.

It’s time for the traveling faithful to get moving again!
