Martin’s funeral will take place at St Wilfrid’s Church, Burnsall, at 11.00 on Friday 31 July. Owing to coronavirus restrictions which limit attendance in church to 30, this will be a private family funeral. Dot hopes to arrange an open memorial service in due course when restrictions are lifted. If club members wish to pay their respects to Martin on Friday, they may wish to line the route through the village before the service. It is understood that the cortege will leave the family home at the top of Hartlington Raikes at 10.40, progressing down the Raikes and across Burnsall Bridge to pass in front of the Red Lion and up through the village to church.
The weather forecast for Friday is excellent so the village is expected to be fairly busy with roadside parking extremely limited. The Daggett family have kindly offered that rugby club members will be welcome to park in their big field over the bridge free of charge, while John Stockdale has made the same kind offer in respect of his croft at the back of Burnsall Village Shop (access up the track by Joy Beck bridge opposite the village green) and Richard and Dan Stockdale will also make space available in their yard opposite the farmhouse.
