Wharfedale are well into preparation for the new season with new players joining a good squad of players. Coach, Simon Verbickas, is very pleased with training and the new players that are settling in. One player he is delighted to have in the squad is Jack Cherry. Jack joined Wharfedale over a season ago but was injured in his 1st match and only reappeared for the last game of the season.

Jack is a versatile player who is at home in any position in the backs. He joined Dale from Sandal having spent time at Leeds Academy. He joined the Academy as a 15-year-old and went back to play for Sandal as an adult. His ambition is to play a full season for Wharfedale and establish himself in the 1st team.
Amongst his early memories of playing rugby was not scoring by touching the ball down but crossing the line as in American Football and then celebrating.
He has played in Green a few times now as he featured in the Aire-Wharfe Cup at the end of last season and also turned out for the Foresters against Old Rishworthians in the earlier pre-season match. He impressed with his electrifying speed.
