This game was a true contest between two sides full of determination for the win. The fact that the lead changed hands four times throughout the game shows what a roller coaster of a game it was.
Baildon were off to a flying start with a penalty,a try and conversion in the first 10 minutes. Wharfedale knew they had to stem the tide and gradually began to get some continuity and solid work done, and hit back with four unconverted tries. Baildon did not crumble though and with a repeat of the first set of scores got a penalty a try and a conversion to level the score at 20-20 for halftime.
The second half saw Wharfedale camp inside the Baildon 22 for almost 20 minutes which resulted in 2 tries and 1 conversion to retake the lead. Baildon always looked to get their speedy back line involved but Wharfedale’s defence repealed their threat. Wharfedale finally sealed the game with an unconverted try with 5 minutes left.
