Wharfedale travelled down the valley to Ilkley with only 10 men available, but Ilkley sportingly sent 3 players over to enable a 13 a side game to be played in good spirit throughout. Uncontested scrums were agreed and the game was played at a good lively pace by both teams.
Ilkley had the upper hand in the early exchanges and soon had 3 tries on the scoreboard, but Wharfedale were soaking up the pressure and started to gain some good possession and were rewarded with a well worked try just before halftime.
The 2nd half carried on with Wharfedale’s confidence building, which kept Ilkley out for the first 15 minutes. Ilkley eventually broke through, but Wharfedale struck back with their second try, to keep Ilkley on their defence. Ilkley had the final say as they had further late scores.
