Wharfedale got their season off to a winning start on Friday night under the floodlights. Both sides had a big squad of players with a good mix of youth and experience.
The game was played in great spirit with respect for each other throughout. Wharfedale opened the scoring with an unconverted try, after 15 minutes of nip and tuck possession and defence from both teams. Skipton replied straight away with an unconverted try. Wharfedale started to settle into the game and scored 2 more tries before half time.
The second half saw both sides make many changes. Now Wharfedale began to get the upper hand, with the scrum now getting stronger. This gave a good platform for the speedy back line.
