The Rams just came up short in this hard fought evenly matched contest. Both sides had experience and youth to call on, with good open rugby being played at every opportunity. Heath scored first with a converted try. Wharfedale came back from the restart and had 10 minutes of pressure in Heath’s 22 but with no points to show as Heath broke away and scored a try.
Wharfedale continued to have the majority of the ball and pressure and just before half time Duncan Clayton-Stead scored a try wide out. Half -time 5-12.
The second half was virtually a repeat of the first. Wharfedale pressuring Heath and Heath scoring from Wharfedale’s mistakes. Tom Allsopp collected Wharfedale’s next try midway through the half. Heath scored another breakaway try but Wharfedale continued to make good ground. With 5 minutes left Harry Balderson weaved his way through to score under the posts. Jonathan Davies added the conversion. This set up a frantic last 5 minutes as Wharfedale went looking for the last score but Heath held out.
