The General Committee is delighted to confirm a two-year extension to the contract of the Club’s Director of Rugby, Simon Verbickas, from 1 June 2026. This follows detailed discussions with the Rugby Committee, and General Committee with both being fully aligned in supporting the new agreement.
Confirming the appointment at this stage allows Simon to begin planning for the 2026/27 season and to continue building on the positive changes he has introduced across the club. He has led a series of specialist coaching sessions, supported by senior players, for the U14’s, U15s, U16s, girls, ladies teams and Colts, all of whom have benefited greatly from a structured eight-week development programme.
Colts’ training sessions are now regularly linked with senior squad sessions, helping players transition more smoothly into senior rugby, both on and off the pitch. Supporting this pathway is vital to maintaining and developing the club’s long-term strength, particularly during periods where injuries have impacted squad availability.
The club fully supports Simon’s vision for coach development and shares his ambition to have strong RFU-qualified coaching at all levels. This focus will help raise standards across the club and reinforce our aim of being the club of choice in the local area.
The club looks forward to the future with confidence.
