Three long-standing members of the Wharfedale family have raised an astonishing £22,000 for two richly-deserving charities.
Duncan Bullough and Robin Hargreaves have raised over £7,000 for the MyName’5Doddie Foundation’s work on Motor Neurone Disease, in memory of our former outstanding player and charismatic character Chris Davies, who died from MND at the tragically young age of 40.
In a 35-day challenge timed to finish on Saturday for KO in the 150th anniversary Calcutta Cup match, Robin rowed over 200km on his rowing machine while Duncan ran 10km every day, finishing on 356km. A wonderful effort by both these guys, neither in the first flush of youth – and you can still sponsor them by going to their respective pages on JustGiving – see either https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/robin-hargreaves or https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/duncanbullough.
Here’s photo’s of them getting on with their challenges!
Meanwhile, former captain Richard and Megan Rhodes’ deeply moving story about their baby daughter Bella has touched so many hearts across the region and the wider rugby community. Their appeal on behalf of the Children’s Heart Surgery Fund, supporting life-saving care at the Leeds Congenital Heart Unit, has reached well over £14,000. The appeal is still open for donations at https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/bellarhodesheart
Thank you to all our friends and supporters who have contributed so generously to these very worthwhile appeals!
