League leaders given a scare.

Conditions were perfect for a game of running rugby and what a feast we had. After early skirmishes by both sides, Sedgley won a scrum against the head and after several phases Daniel Maher crashed over for the first try which was converted by Stephen Collins, 7-0.

From a lineout in the 15th minute the ball was recycled from left to right for Oscar Canny to cross the whitewash for a try which Tom Davidson duly converted, 7-7. In the 18th minute Matthew Beesley was given a yellow card for a no arm …

Fylde completed a bonus point win at the Avenue despite picking up three yellow cards and a red. They stopped Dale scoring by any means and left the home side with only 2 penalties from Tom Davidson.

Forget the cynicism because at times Fylde played some excellent rugby. Their play was often slick and too fast for the Dale defence to cope with,

Wharfedale started well and pinned Fylde back before turning the ball over and winning a penalty. Davidson opened the scoring in the second minute with a penalty. Dale pressed again from the restart but with a penalty …

The top two teams in the league met at the Avenue in what proved to be a high class and competitive game.  Some last minute logistics had to be put in place and thanks are due to our referee Mr Whitehead.  A strong Greens side, particularly in the backs, had been assembled to take on our adversaries from east of us.  Driffield took the early lead, but we were soon over the line thanks to Ryan Carlson, playing his first match back after his stay in South Africa.  Tom Mann converted.  Taking their best attacking game to our opponents, it …

A true local derby was won by Wharfedale thanks to their dominance in the first half. They went in at half time leading by 16 points to nil.

Wharfedale started the game very brightly and the opening score came in the third minute. A drop-out from under the Harrogate posts was run back by Matt Beesley into the visitor’s 22. 6 phases later the ball was moved right and Josh Prell touched down for an unconverted try.

Harrogate had a chance to show what they could do when a kick from Dale drifted out on the full and Gate had …

Rotherham won their first ever match at the Avenue early this season and Dale balanced the books by winning for the first time at Clifton Lane. Not too many of the faithful made a second trip in a fortnight down the M1 but Dale were well represented and vocal; having to compete at time with the chant of “Rothram”.

Both teams were forced to make changes as this was technically a “free weekend” and quite a few players on both sides had taken the opportunity to book holidays. This gave a chance for players to step up and show what …

The faithful who made theirway up the A1 to t’other Dale were treated to an enthralling game of rugby. A close encounter of the second kind was even closer than the first match between the sides at the Avenue. The game was played with great spirit and intensity by both Dales. The lead switched quite a few times and either side could have emerged as winners.

The home side took an early lead. Dale’s kick-off was sent into Tyne’s in-goal area and touched down. This meant the home side being awarded a scrum on half-way. Tynedale soon had an attacking …
