Yes – we all know that – and now readers of The Rugby Paper know it as well, following a profile of our forwards/defence coach Jon Skurr in the 3 January edition of TRP.

The article focuses on Jon’s playing career with Wakefield, Sedgley Park and Rotherham, including winning the 2002 Middlesex Sevens with a Bradford Bulls RL squad that included Jon Feeley and Robbie Paul when cross-code matches were all the rage. It also traces Jon’s coaching career with Ireland men’s and women’s 7s teams and then Yorkshire before being persuaded to join up with Jon Feeley again at …

We wish all our members and supporters a Happy New Year – although it is difficult to find anything to celebrate in the current circumstances.

Following the Prime Minister’s announcement on Monday evening, community rugby is back at Stage A on the RFU roadmap which means that all training activity for seniors and mini/juniors is now suspended indefinitely.

Much as we would like to be able to continue with rugby activities given the extensive investment in secure protocols, this is simply not permitted and we are all required to stay at home as much as possible. With the latest lockdown …

It is very likely that not many of us will look back over the year 2020 with any great fondness. So here is a glimpse of the future instead. Once again the Minis and Juniors gave a helping hand with the 200 Club draw.

Oscar, Theo and Hugo pulled out the numbers whilst looking on is an older chap who is now the Wharfedale Director of Rugby and also played a bit of rugby at The Avenue. If these three young men go on to emulate Rob’s achievements playing in a green jersey, we fans will all be very happy …
