Next Saturday our 2nd XV is away to Beverley 1st XV. KO is at 3.00pm.
Wharfedale 2nd XV kick off the 2026-27 league season, and the first in the Yorkshire league structure against Beverley 1st XV in what promises to be an intriguing game. The young Wharfedale squad will bring plenty of enthusiasm but face the challenge of stepping up from friendlies. The warm up game against Heath was a great indicator of how the game may pan out. Heath started strongly and helped by having played 2 previous warm up games used this experience and cohesion to lead throughout the match. However Wharfedale showed signs throughout that they were a match and with more experience and cohesion from training together will be very competitive.
For Beverley, familiar with the intensity and tactical demands of league rugby, this is another opportunity to assert their home dominance. They come into the fixture with a strong pre-season showing and a large win against Harrogate 2nd XV at the weekend. Their experience should make them tough opponents on home turf.
