Aire-Wharfe U14 girls were worthy winners against a combatative Selby side – the first half was a close affair with Selby applying pressure particularly at the ruck area, however the Aire-Wharfe well organised defence held firm. A break away try from Harriett Stoker was all that separated the sides at half time. The second half saw Aire-Wharfe’s attacking play come to fore and finding space in the outside channels paid dividends with Jess Battle and Harriett dotting down. The defensive effort kept Selby pinned in their own half, with the scrum providing the platform for No. 8 Nell McGuinn to crash over on two occasions. The forwards worked tirelessly in defence, and gained dominance in the 2nd half, with the backs recognising and exploiting space, which was compounded by a genuine team spirit. A really positive way to end the season and plenty to get excited about next season.
