Driffield 2nd XV 0-54 Foresters

The Foresters took the long journey across to the East Riding in good spirits following victories over York and Tynedale and a couple of decent sessions on the training ground during the week. It was good to welcome back Ralph Wellock and Josh Burridge from their travels.

The Foresters received the kick off and with good patience and tempo set about working their way upfield and finished off with a try for Wellock converted by MacNab.

From the kick off again patience took over and following a period of stalemate the pressure told at the scrum with Altham, Hunting and Dickinson working their opponents over the referee had no option but to award a penalty try.

A flowing move upfield from around the half way resulted in the next score by scrum half Lawn following a snipe from a ruck under the sticks, again converted by MacNab. Centre Joe Gill was the scorer of the next try following good scrum pressure again by the forwards once again MacNab was successful from the tee. A period of stalemate followed until a sloppy line out was mopped up by Hunting who scampered over from the 22yd line and well converted by MacNab.

Half Time 35-0

The second half couldn’t live up the first but the Foresters managed to score three more well worked tries. The first recipient was replacement winger Bradley Viner who finished a flowing move off wide out on the right. MacNab was unsuccessful with the difficult conversion attempt. Straight from the kick off Bullock managed to finish off a pre-planned move from 60 metres under the sticks after a clever pass from Burridge but the winger still had plenty to do, converted by MacNab.

Bullock finished with a brace following good work down the left flank by Wellock, well converted by MacNab.

All in all a very pleasing performance by the young squad and the management are looking forward to the upcoming fixtures.
