Go Ahead for the Balcony Extension

June 2nd, 2017 Comments off
The Yorkshire Dales National Park has granted planning permission for the Club to extend the external balcony which will provide an additional specator viewing facility and a covered standing area underneath. The balcony will be doubled in depth and extend across the front of the club house. Unlike the current structure, the steel railings will be replaced with glass ballustrade panelling.

The next stage is the task of funding the project. The club would welcome anyone who wishes to contribute to the project through either the provision of funding or the various services still required to implement the strucutre e.g. predevelopment activities such as building regulations and steel work calculations, general construction, provision of materials.

The club is also seeking to provide a number of A-frame picnic table/benches underneath the balcony. Opportunties exist for sponsorship of a bench and also for individual engraved sponored glass panels on the balcony. If you feel you can contribute in anyway with this project, please contact David Baker on 07810308958 or chairman@wharfedalerufc.co.uk.

Refurbishment of the 2 Main Pitches

May 23rd, 2017 Comments off
It’s been yet another tough year for the pitches at Wharfedale Rugby Club. Thankfully, one of the long standing sponsors of the club is local company Tarmac Ltd, who operate quarries at various locations in the Dales, including Swinden Quarry just a couple of miles from the rugby ground. They provided a total of 120 tonnes of specialist topsoil. Desperately in need of help with pitch revitalisation, head groundsman, Adam Pidgeon oversaw the spreading of the topsoil on the 1st and 2nd team pitches as well as drainage works on the 2nd team pitch

We are extremely grateful to Tarmac Ltd and their hauliers, Eddie B Webster & Sons of Cracoe, for generously donating and delivering the topsoil without which we would have struggled to maintain the turf
