Wharfedale 31 Stirling Co 10

May 17th, 2012

Wharfedale’s management will have taken considerable encouragement from this display against a top Scottish side, particularly in a first half which produced four good  tries. From the basis of a powerful scrummage supported by fine mauling technique, the backs were liberated to produce tries from Horsfall and impressive newcomer Donkin, with front-rowers Steel and Graham taking advantage of the Greens’ overall dominance.

In a much more even second half in which a number of Wharfedale youngsters were given the chance to show their wares, Druce was the only scorer, but much satisfation will have been taken from the home side’s refusal to concede tries when under severe pressure.
