WRUFC Apprenticeship Scheme

July 18th, 2019 Comments off

Whilst as a club our aim is to provide an excellent environment for young people to improve their sporting and rugby skills, as they reach 16 and beyond careers also need to be considered and forged.

With this in mind the club has set up an apprenticeship scheme with a number of local companies. Apprenticeships combine learning and qualifications with earning a wage which is a huge win for all concerned.

More details of the scheme are available by clicking on the Apprenticeships tab near the top of this page.

We would like to take this opportunity of expressing our thanks and appreciation to the companies involved.

200 Club Winners – April to June 2019

July 3rd, 2019 Comments off

The annual fundraising cricket match between Appletreewick Village and a team from Manorlands Hospice, took place down the Dale last week and so Jennie took the opportunity to enlist some WRUFC members to help conduct the 200 Club quarterly draw.

The draw was scrutinized by Oliver the 3 year old son of Wharfedale stalwart and former captain Chris Steel. You may also recognize a few of more faces associated with the Avenue in the photograph. A brace of Mason boys, Steely of course, Thomas Walker and various regulars from the shed were later joined by some more Masons and from yester year, former 1st XV prop Stephen Fawcett. David Pye who helps with traffic control at our home games dispensed with his Hi Vis for the evening whilst his wife Maddy, a Manorlands volunteer, brought along some refreshments.
